Biography: Ms. Walter is an associate professor of fine art and chair of the Department of Art, Fine Art and Art Education. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, she earned her B.A. in Art from Bellarmine College in Louisville, studied for five years in the University of Louisville’s Master's of Art program while teaching high school art, and received her M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Cincinnati.
During her 19 years at the Mount, Professor Walter has taught drawing, painting and honors courses. She helped design and teach the College’s first interdisciplinary course, and continues to design and teach interdisciplinary courses, including most recently the travel course, The Story of Berlin with Ulli Brinksmeier. Ms. Walter co-designs and team teaches the Freshman Orientation and Senior Capstone seminars. In addition to summer work on the archeological excavation of the Roman site at Torre de Palma, Portugal, she has taught a summer course at Huron University in London. She was awarded the College’s Clifford Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005.
Professor Walter exhibits drawings and paintings in regional exhibitions. Her commissions include building-mounted sculptures for the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church and a life-size sculpture of St. Francis of Assisi for the St. Anthony Messenger Press headquarters in Cincinnati.
