This degree is designed to develop skills related to planning, organizing, directing, controlling, budgeting, leading and evaluating an organization or department whose primary product or service is related to sport and/or recreation.
Careers possibilities related to this field include work in a variety of sport or sport-related settings such as: professional athletics/franchise management, college athletics, corporation fitness/health club management, facility operations, corporate sport marketing/public relations, event marketing and management, journalism/communications, media relations and sports equipment sales, specialized sport management and marketing firms, in high school athletic administration, in commercial sport, as well as with traditional business.
Calling Future Coaches
Expand your career opportunities with a coaching minor. Beginning in the fall of 2009, students can complete 18 credit hours in athletic training and sport management courses to earn this new minor. Areas of study will include strength/conditioning, sport psychology, sport nutrition and wellness, as well as numerous courses in coaching.
