Digital media has changed the way the world communicates. Media such as radio, television, music, film, telecommunication, computers and the Internet are evolving at a rapid pace. New forms of media are emerging.
The Interactive Media Design & Computing program combines the principles and practices of computing, art, and communication to prepare students for the new digital arena.
Students will take courses like:
- Object Oriented Scripting for Virtual Worlds
- 2-D and 3-D Computer Animation
- Networks for Multimedia and Mobile Applications
- Comic and Narrative Art
- Visual Communications
- Computer Graphics
The curriculum combines hands-on experience with cutting-edge industry-standard software for designing and editing audio and visual media.
The degree earned in the major will be a Bachelor of Science degree.
Career opportunities exist in areas such as web site design and development, multimedia information editing and management, educational multimedia specialist, game design, the Internet and e-commerce. Potential employers include broadcast organizations, media production companies, web site designers and indeed any company that maintains a significant web presence.
