Science at the Mount
At the Mount, you will do your own original research, working closely with a faculty member whom you choose. We maintain a wide variety of scientific instruments that are rare for a school of this size. You will learn to operate each of these instruments yourself – gaining the hands-on, problem-solving skills that you might miss at a larger school.
Employers of our alumni have noticed – at the Mount you will learn how to learn. When you enter the workforce, you will be very well-prepared.
The Chemistry/Mathematics dual major at the Mount is offered through the Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences. We also offer degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Natural Sciences. For more information about specific courses, see the Chemistry/Mathematics Course List and a description of additional Liberal Arts courses that you may take, called our Core Curriculum.
Life at the Mount
The College of Mount St. Joseph is small…and that is our greatest strength. You will know your professors and they will know you. You will know all of your classmates. When you have a question, you will get an answer quickly and easily, without having to take a number or stand in line.
We have a caring support structure for you - a tutor when you need one, a Writing Center to help you improve your communication skills, Project EXCEL for our learning disabled students, and a Wellness/Counseling Center to help you through any tough times.
We have a great community – great athletics so that you cheer for or participate in your favorite sport, the ability to travel the world through experiential learning courses, and a vibrant creative community with an art gallery, a theatre, a recital hall, and a student newspaper.
