Organizational Leadership

Organizational Leadership programs are on the rise in the United States. The Mount offers a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) on campus. The MSOL was launched in the fall of 2001 after research results from the business community, organizations and adult students revealed an overload of graduate-level employees with degrees in business administration and few with leadership skills. Unique in its departure from the standard MBA offered at area colleges and universities, the MSOL program encompasses ethics, decision-making, relationships, and technology.

The Mount also offers both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Leadership to off-campus cohorts at several local institutions. The Mount is pleased to offer both a MSOL (Master's) and BSOL (Bachelor's) degree.  The Bachelor's progam is modeled after the successful Master's program and is now offered to undergraduate students.

The MSOL is designed to develop skills in specific areas allowing individuals to better understand leadership, people, organizations, and technology.

The MSOL program is multidisciplinary with courses and faculty from
  • business
  • humanities
  • religious and pastoral studies
  • behavioral sciences
  • economics
  • management
  • computer information systems.

There is an emphasis on values and ethics as these key leadership attributes directly impact the organization’s bottom line.

Students come to the MSOL from all types of organizations: large corporations, small businesses, government and nonprofits. Individuals work in the fields of business, education, law, human services, finance, and healthcare. This makes for a rich exchange of ideas in a small classroom setting. Students report positive results as they apply what they learn in the classroom to their organizations and lives.

Daryl Smith, Ph.D. is the Chair of the Organizational Leadership Department. For more information about the Organizational Leadership program, contact the Division of Business at (513) 244-4918.
