top secret college...secrets?

Ahh...well hello. That's the sound of contentment, as I warm my toes on my laptop charger. Yes, I have seemed to become quite crafty as a college student. Learned to live on less, and get creative!

I suppose I could share a few of these "craft-tastic" tips with my readers, as long as you don't sell them for money. Ready?

  • Ramen spaghetti. I'm not sure why I didn't think of this one myself...but you can buy the jars of spaghetti sauce at the store, and instead of pouring the disgusting (I mean, er, delicious and nutritious) "seasoning packet" from the ramen over, use spaghetti sauce. Badabing-Badaboom: INSTANT SPAGHETTI.

  • The MSJ refrigerator. Now, this doesn't really exist. And unfortunately it only is available to some. Being in a center suite this year (*outstretches arms, gets up to use my PRIVATE restroom, goes to mess with my PERSONAL thermostat*), I opened my window one day and noticed a small ledge. It's not too wide, but just wide enough that during the winter time, I realized I could set my water bottles or sodas (of course) out there and they would be nice and chilly within less than an hour. Obviously, this won't work during the warmer months. But November-February, it's pretty awesome. Especially because my fridge is small enough that I have to wonder what will fall out next when I open it.

  • Broomsticks. Ah, now this one I did not discover until recently. I figured brooms were for sweeping, right? WRONG. Brooms can double as great friendly notices to your neighbor that it is 7:45 AM on a Saturday, so why can I hear your Power Rangers tv show? Now this must be done gently and swiftly, because you would not want to leave a mark on the wall or else you can expect to be charged upon move-out. In that case, attach a towel of some sort, or even a stack of tissues to the end before firmly and quickly banging, er, tapping lightly on the wall.
So, those are the tips I will share with you for now. Perhaps (if you are lucky), I will consider revealing a few more at another time. Until then...go watch a tournament game.

College Week Live

Starting this Wednesday is College Week Live. It is a virtual college fair set up online. There will a ton of schools, organizations, companies, and anything else associated with going to college. You can talk to reps from schools, current students, financial aid advisors, banks, scholarship organizations, and other personnel about anything you may need or want to know about a college or school or program.

The College of Mount St. Joseph will be hosting a booth at this fair and will be manned by yours truly along with a couple of other bloggers and students along with some faculty and staff of the Mount. Come and ask us questions, peruse the information of our college, check out the pictures and grounds of the buildings, and other things.

This whole experience is meant to put you at ease about college and helping you choose the right school for you. You get the opportunity to "visit" schools that you may not otherwise be able to visit, such as those across the country that would not be worth the cost to check out for one day in person. At least you can visit that school online in this virtual college fair and be able to find out almost anything that you would want to know.

It starts on Wednesday, November 4th and ends Saturday, November 7th. This is the web address for the college fair: http://www.collegeweeklive.com/. It is highly recommended that you check us out on the web and ask us questions using the Click Here: Live Chat button on our booth (College of Mount St. Joseph). The Mount offers "Get Acquainted Days" every few Saturdays or so and that can be helpful to be able to visit the campus itself but if none of those dates work into your schedule, at least this week gives you a chance to know us a bit better when you have a bit of free time. Here's the link on the main site of the Mount for ways to visit us: http://www.msj.edu/view/visit.aspx.

I hope we see you- or talk to you actually- at the College Week Live event this Wednesday through Saturday. It should be a fun time to learn more about the Mount and our community. Enjoy!! :)

Update!

College is so stressful, why didn’t anyone tell us it wouldbe so stressful! I swear things keep happening to make life difficult! So thisweekend my keys straight vanished off the face of the earth. Real Talk! Like Iwas at my friend’s house, I drove there, so I know I had them! When I go toleave, they were gone! So after hours of extensive searching I had to bum aride from a friend. I still haven’t found them, So My car sat abandoned on theother side of town for 3 days before my mom found time to bring my spare set.Which would be reasonable, if I didn’t live 20 minutes away, and my mom had alife HAHA! So we go get my car right, and of course I had a flat. YAY! But heyits cool, I got a new tire, and now I have my car back! Which is good, I missedSally Sue! For the record, Sally Sue is my car, she’s red, and she lovesdinosaurs.

And I still can’t stop sleeping through my classes! Itscrazy, like no matter how many alarms I set, I will sleep through them all. Andfor me being a teenager I go to bed at a decent hour, decent meaning midnightor later. My drawing teacher is working with me though, She’s letting me re-doone of my drawings for a reduced grade, which is generous considering as of nowit’s a zero.

As far as family and relationships go, my moms all better! Her birthday was this weekend and I got to go home and see my family. I met upwith all my friends too and we went to a haunted trail, it was a lot of fun. Itwas good to be home even if it was just for a day or two.

ANYWAYS!

Halloween is around the corner! And if anything can turnlife around right now it’s dressing up like fools and buying half priceHalloween candy the day after! I need to find something to wear! I want to besomething wicked sweet, but not completely cliché. I want to go the thriftstore sometime and see what I can find. I may buy some crazy sweet Christmassweaters while I’m there!

Classes are getting really cool, in my Honors IDS classwe’ve been going on field trips and I’ve really had a lot of fun, this weekwe’re going to the museum and next week we get to meet Bobbie Ann Mason, who isthe author of “In Country” I’m really excited for all of it. My 2D studio classhowever, is getting rough. I have a pretty intense project due here soon (Ihave no idea when) I need to work on it here soon, as well as study for mymidterms! AH! I probably wont study though, lets be real. Oh the things uscollege kids do! But tennis practice is here soon! We’re getting ready for ourbig tourney up in Indianapolis! See ya later!
