End of the Year!

Hey guys!

Guess what? This is my last blog of the semester. I know, I know…you’re devastated. It’s been a good school year and I KNOW all of you benefited greatly from blogs and your lives are so much better because of them, right? Right.

All kiddin aside, I’m glad I could share a little bit of my life at the Mount with all of you again this year. I really hope my blogs were beneficial to you; I tried to pick topics that would directly apply to the life a typical Mount St. Joseph student would experience.

As for me, I still have two research papers to finish up for Thursday, as well as a presentation in my Global Human Rights class. Then exam week is here. That’s a feat in itself. I have three essay exams, a discussion-based final based on my experience mentoring at Oyler, and a final paper. So I’ll have my hands full, to say the least. THEN SCHOOL IS DONE! But I’ll only get a taste of the freedom for a short period because I’ll be taking quite a few summer courses. And during that free time I have to get shoulder surgery to fix the tear in my shoulder that happened in December from wrestling. That’s gonna be interesting. I also got a job at Dunham Recreation Center working as a Teen Day Camp Leader during the days. I can’t wait for that to start up! It’s gonna provide me with some great experience for my future as an educator.  (as I side note, I would recommend that anyone interested in becoming a teacher someday should get involved with any of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission programs or do some volunteer work with kids, its extremely beneficial and will give you a little taste of what it will be like as a teacher)

I’ll try to drop a blog every now and then over the summer just to let ya’ll know what’s up and how things are goin. Until then, finish out your school year strong and then have a fun, safe summer!

See ya!

get connected - with my fellow bloggers!

so as i've been reading through my fellow bloggers' i thought i'd share insight on my connection with some of these amazing students outside of this student voices page.

andi, first off, is amazing. i love the girl! i didn't really talk to her much, though, until this semester when we started chatting through the musical. she worked with the stage crew to be sure that each of us cast members had the crops we needed at certain points in the show and worked with barb on stage equipment. i also am getting to know her better through CAB. she currently has the position that I will be taking over next semester with my co-chair matthew. ((another fellow blogger)) andi is just so much fun and she is so nice to talk to. i'm anxious to get to know her better, even if the musical is over!

tom, the lead of the musical, is another great person that i've grown to love as a fellow blogger! he has such awesome insight and is a great guy to talk to. i didn't really get much of a chance to chat with him through the musical itself, but at the cast party we really had a chance to talk, and my!! is he amazing!! it's sad that he won't be continuing with the musicals at the school but i still love working with him through the blogs!

sondra and i have quite a lot of similar involvements! we are both bloggers, obviously.... we took our ethics class last semester as well as mount singers (which we are still currently in). we both work as phonathon callers, and she originally was a part of the musical. i'm proud of her for taking the iniative to set her priorities early on and figure out when too much is too much. i think i'm going to figure that out next semester, since i never know how to say no! yikes! i'm excited i get to see sondra so much around campus, we always have stuff to talk about!

clare and i have known each other since freshman year through project excel and living on the same floor. its exciting that we are both able to share so much insight about project excel and school involvement. i think living on 2 southeast together definitely gave us a good amount of perspective on mount life!

emily was one of my first inspirations of getting involved at the mount. she was my orientation leader when i started at the mount and as being another project excel student as well as fellow interior design student, i definitely felt a connection with her asap and i'm glad we are able to blog together now. even though i'm not in interior design anymore, its still exciting to see her walking around the mount with her projects and knowing that she's hard at work because of how talented she is! i'm happy for her that she has finally reached her senior year!

and matthew, working with him next semester as my co-chair, will be very exciting. i haven't had a chance to get to know him yet really, but i'm anxious to work with him, especially since we will have a lot of material to blog about!

having this blogging job has definitley given me a lot of insight on student life, from several different perspectives, and these are some great bloggers to work with!
